In 2008, the University of Hargeisa and the University for Peace signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The major objective of the MOA was to provide junior faculty members of the University of Hargeisa an opportunity join University for Peace and obtain an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies to help the development of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. Since then, a number of faculty members benefited the agreement and joined the University for Peace and later served at the Institute.
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies has a strong and a striving relationship with the University for Peace Africa Programme based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 4 October 2016.
The MoU is outlining research collaborations, academic exchanges, and helping the IPCS publish and disseminate its research products in high tech and quality publishers which contribute more effective attainment of the common objectives of the two institutions.
