Nasir M. Ali is the Director of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Hargeisa, a position he has held since November 2015. In this role, he engages in teaching, research, writing and policy analysis. Nasir Ali is currently a PhD candidate at the University for Peace. He obtained two master’s degrees in international relations (2010) and in African studies (2015) from Addis Ababa University. Prior to leading the institute, Mr Ali worked with the department of global studies and international relations at New Generation University College in Addis Ababa as a lecturer and independent consultant with various institutions. His areas of interest include peace and conflict, security, pastoralism, governance, and state–society relations. Mr Ali has published more than a dozen articles in journals, book chapters exploring his areas of interest from different perspectives.
Hamse Khayre has a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Hargeisa. He also has an LLB Degree in Law. In addition to that, he successfully achieved a number of certificates in different areas of knowledge, including Research Methodology, Project Proposal and Report Writing, Civil Society and Peacebuilding, and Remedial English for Academic Context.
He worked with the Horizon Institute, headquartered in Hargeisa as a Consultant and conducted with them a number of assessments and researches in the Somaliland Justice Sector. Currently, he is the Academic Coordinator of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of Hargeisa. Moreover, he lectures the College of Law and the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Hargeisa.
Guleid Jama Farah is pursuing his MA in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. Joined the Institute in September, 2014, Guleid is the head of the Administration Section of the Institute. Mr Guleid has a Bachelor Degree in Information Communication and Technology from the University of Hargeisa. Before joining the IPCS, Guleid has worked at different institutions in different capacities such as data collection and data entry officer, these institutions include: UNDP Somaliland and Somaliland Non-State Actors Forum (SONSAF).
